Transformation from a small firm to a European player
Husband and wife Štefan and Emília Starek began building their transport company in 1993 on three fundamental pillars: honest work, a personal approach, and constant responsibility. Through perseverance, they grew from a local firm with five employees and three small trucks into a company with 90 employees and 70 trucks operating throughout Europe.
Reflecting market challenges
The company grew gradually, taking on new market challenges and expanding its services from simple transport to freight forwarding, groupage services, warehousing, and vehicle service and repair. It changed its business form from a sole proprietorship to a limited liability company. This step in 2013 sealed long-term growth, strengthened ties with business partners, and opened new development opportunities under the STAREK Transport brand.
A place where visions are realized and boundaries are pushed
The company’s current modern headquarters and logistics center, covering 22,000 m², is located on the site of the former Benzinol refinery in Trstená, which the Starek family purchased in a neglected and ecologically unsuitable state. They breathed a new identity into one of the most contaminated sites in Slovakia, thanks to their firmly rooted values.
The transformation required the removal of more than 20,000 tons of contaminated soil while the company remained fully operational. Today, the former refinery is recalled only by a portion of the preserved historical front wall, featuring portraits of Štefan and Emília Starek. It is a symbol of continuity, vision, and courage – the pillars upon which the company is built.
Second Generation - Same Values - New Energy
Today, the company is led by the second generation of the founding family – daughter Mgr. Eva Starek LL.M., MBA and son PhDr. Martin Starek. With a focus on innovation, systemic development, and a responsible approach, they lead STAREK Transport in offering high-quality services to every customer.
The company holds ISO 9001 service quality certification, ISO 14001 environmental management certification, and ISO 45001 occupational health and safety management system certification.
The strong foundation is complemented by a warehouse complex in Ružomberok along with a newly built truck service center, providing customers with premium services under one roof.
